A New Dawn Fades

Seattle has a lot of grey winter days, but when dawn first breaks over the mountains, the sun is low enough in the sky to shine below the cloud layer for a few, brief moments.

When it does a red-orange glow forms on the north wall of my bedroom. It gradually gets brighter before fading away as the sun lifts above the clouds and the day turns grey.

The iPhone camera is a great tool for capturing these dim images. It boosts the amount of color and light above what is perceived by the eye.

Instead of a dull glow, the wall seems on fire. Until it fades.
